e-Learning: RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES
The e-learning, that is referred to the online learning, represents the future of professional training.
Thanks to the help of multimedia technologies and the Internet, it is possible to improve the quality of training and the cooperation among users through the creation of virtual learning communities.
Interactivity, dynamism and modularity, which characterise distance learning, make e-learning methods more effective than the traditional ones.
Since 2003 the team of P.M.F. has focused on training and information management.
Several projects, financed with the help of national and European programmes, aim at the development of highly innovative e-learning platforms.
THE CONTRIBUTION OF P.M.F. RESEARCH
TO THE EVOLUTION OF THE E-LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES
The project aims at supporting future teachers to acquire useful methodologies that will help them to work with students of different cultures.
P.M.F. will develop an online platform that will collect tips and suggestions from teachers, students and parents.
Furthermore, an e-learning course for teachers will be created to enhance their skills in managing multicultural classes
BONY – SEMANTIC TECHNOLOGY FOR THE E-LEARNING
The project, that was financed under Lifelong Learning Programme, ended in December 2009 and aimed at the development of a technological system for multilingual distance learning integrated with an ontological approach. Furthermore, the project foresaw the creation of a social network where users played the double role of teachers and students depending on their skills and knowledge.
P.M.F. Research was involved also in the implementation of E-Kristjan, being in charge of the creation and development of a web-based e-learning platform as a specific tool for Estonian public employees to learn Estonian language.
The “Semantic Sicily” project gave birth to an innovative distance learning platform which integrates semantic technology with e-learning.
